DOSAGE FORM: Effervescent powder.
Paracetamol is the first choice for treatment of fever and pains. Paracetamol acts on heat-regulating centre of hypothalamus for hypothermia, an increase in thermolysis due to vasodilation and peripheral hypervolemia leading to hypothermia in patients with fever, but rarely in the normal. Paracetamol is analgesic by the elevation of the pain threshold.
At therapeutic dose, the analgesic and antipyretic effect is equivalent to aspirin; however, paracetamol causes no adverse effects on cardiovascular and respiratory systems, no change of acid-base equilibrium, no irritation, scratch or gastrorrhagia, no action on glomeruli or bleeding time like aspirin or other salicylates. So, paracetamol is prior for analgesic, antipyretic actions on children.
Hapacol 250 containing 250 mg of paracetamol is prepared in the dosage form of effervescent powder, dissolved in water before use; therefore, it is suitable for analgesic - antipyretic actions on children. The drug is quickly and mostly absorbed by the digestive system.
For treatment of painful and/or febrile symptoms in cases of:
PRECAUTIONS: Patients on low-sodium or sodium-free diets are warned that the drug contains 49.3 mg of ion sodium
Concurrent use with anticoagulant (warfarin) may mildly enhance the effect of anticoagulant. Drinking much alcohol or using alcohol for a long time may enhance a risk of hepatotoxicity by paracetamol. Concurrent administration of paracetamol and anticonvulsants (such as phenytoin, barbiturate, carbamazepine) and isoniazid may also increase hepatotoxicity by paracetamol.
Allergic reactions have been rarely reported. High doses and prolonged use of the drug may cause hepatic impairment (due to hepatolysis). Hypoleukemia, thrombocytopenia, anemia. Inform your physician about any adverse effects occur during the treatment.
